Krutrim Translate is a state-of-the-art machine translation model designed for seamless text translation between Indic languages and English. Developed by Krutrim AI Labs, the model builds upon IndicTrans2, extending its context length from 256 to 4096 tokens for improved accuracy in long-form translations. The model is trained using Bharat Parallel Corpus Collection (BPCC), further augmented with proprietary data to enhance performance. It features an optimized 6-encoder, 3-decoder architecture, enabling faster translations with up to 4x reduced latency compared to IndicTrans2 while maintaining high translation quality. Evaluation results on IN22-gen and IN22-conv datasets show strong CHRF++ scores, outperforming existing models in accuracy and efficiency.
