The Watershed dataset is a key component of the CoRE Stack (Commoning for Resilience and Equality), representing intermediate-level hydrological units nested within sub-basins. Derived from digital elevation models, this dataset identifies natural catchment boundaries that guide runoff flow toward drainage outlets. Watersheds form the basis for integrated water and soil conservation planning, enabling communities and planners to assess upstream–downstream linkages and design interventions for water security and resilience.
Technical details and methodologies are available in the CoRE Stack Technical Manual: https://core-stack.org/core-stack-technical-manual-v2/
The Purpose Of The Watershed Dataset Is To Define Medium-scale Catchment Areas For Localized Water And Soil Resource Management. It Supports Planning Of Conservation Measures, Assessment Of Runoff Flow, And Design Of Interventions For Water Security, Resilience, And Ecosystem Restoration. Integrated With Other Core Stack Hydrological Layers, It Enables Community-based And Data-driven Watershed Management.
