Tibetan Verbs Database - TVD

Tibetan Verbs Database - TVD

A lexical database containing Tibetan verbs in their present, past, future, and imperative forms, compiled from multiple linguistic reference sources to support Tibetan language research and natural language processing

About Dataset

The Tibetan Verbs Database (TVD) is a structured lexical resource that documents Tibetan verbs in their four grammatical forms: present, past, future, and imperative. The database compiles verb paradigms from multiple authoritative Tibetan lexical and grammatical references while preserving the original forms reported by each source rather than enforcing a single standardized representation. Each verb entry includes references indicating the source dictionaries in which the forms appear, enabling researchers to compare variations across linguistic resources. By providing an openly accessible collection of Tibetan verb paradigms, the dataset contributes to the preservation and computational study of Tibetan linguistic resources. This dataset was identified and facilitated for onboarding as part of the Dataset Onboarding Support Team (DOST) initiative led by CivicDataLab (CDL), partnering with the Gates Foundation in collaboration with BHASHINI. CivicDataLab provided support for dataset discovery, metadata preparation and onboarding facilitation. All dataset ownership and intellectual property rights remain with the original author(s).

Purpose of Dataset

It Can Be Used For Morphological Analysis, Lemmatization, Grammar Checking, Lexicon Construction, Machine Translation, Computational Linguistics, Language Learning, And Natural Language Processing Applications Involving Tibetan.
