Stop Diarrhoea Campaign 2025 is a nationwide public-health and WASH awareness initiative documenting efforts to prevent diarrhoeal diseases through safe drinking water, sanitation, hygiene, water-quality testing, community mobilisation and awareness activities under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

About Dataset

Stop Diarrhoea Campaign 2025 documents the nationwide campaign undertaken from 20 June to 31 July 2025 to strengthen diarrhoea prevention through safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene practices. The initiative was led by the Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation (DDWS), Ministry of Jal Shakti, in coordination with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. It complemented the national STOP Diarrhoea Campaign, which adopted a Prevent, Protect, Treat (PPT) strategy and focused on reducing child deaths due to diarrhoea. The DDWS initiative, titled “Swachh Gaon, Shuddh Jal – Behtar Kal,” focused on strengthening safe water and sanitation practices at village and Panchayat levels. Major activities included water-quality testing using Field Test Kits (FTKs), leakage detection and repair, cleaning and disinfection of water infrastructure, rainwater harvesting and greywater management, sanitation promotion, community-led IEC activities, public awareness campaigns and sensitisation programmes. The campaign also promoted handwashing, safe drinking water, toilet use and other hygienic practices as important measures for preventing diarrhoeal infections. The document records extensive community participation, including trainings for local communities and officials, ASHA training on FTKs and laboratory facilities, District Water and Sanitation Mission meetings, public-awareness campaigns and engagement of local communities, NGOs and Implementing Support Agencies.

Purpose of Dataset

The Purpose Of The Campaign Was To Strengthen Prevention Of Diarrhoeal Diseases By Promoting Safe Drinking Water, Sanitation And Hygiene Practices, Improving Water-quality Monitoring, Mobilising Rural Communities, Building Local Capacity And Increasing Public Awareness. It Sought To Support Healthier Communities Through Coordinated Wash Interventions, Community Participation And Preventive Health Measures.
