This document is the official guideline and nomination package for the 2nd National Water Awards, 2019, issued by the Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Shakti. It establishes an awards framework to encourage States, districts, village panchayats, urban local bodies, institutions, industries, NGOs, water-user associations, schools, media organisations, researchers, and individuals to adopt and promote effective water-conservation practices. The guidelines list award categories such as Best State, Best District for Water Conservation, Best District for Revival of River, Best Village Panchayat/Urban Local Body, research and innovation in water conservation, educational and mass-awareness initiatives, TV shows, newspapers, schools, institutions, industries, water regulatory authorities, Water Warriors, NGOs, Water User Associations, and industries undertaking CSR activities for water conservation. The award-category tables on pages 3–5 also specify eligibility, zonal distribution, awards, cash prizes, and citations. The document sets out evaluation criteria based on measurable outcomes and good practices. These include water saved, water treated and reused, water bodies revived or created, rainwater-harvesting structures, groundwater recharge, irrigation-potential creation, pollution-abatement measures, water audits, stakeholder awareness, innovation, community participation, and tangible and intangible impacts. It further prescribes nomination procedures, supporting documentation, PowerPoint presentations, certification by competent authorities, and category-wise application forms.
The Purpose Of The Guidelines Is To Create National Recognition And Motivation For Individuals And Institutions That Contribute To Sustainable Water Management. The Awards Aim To Encourage Replication Of Successful Water-conservation Practices, Strengthen Public Awareness, Promote Community-led Water Stewardship, Support Innovation And Technology Adoption, And Improve Conservation, Reuse, Recharge, River Restoration, And Efficient Water Use Across India.
