NH Fee Rules (Third Amendment), 2026 – UPI Payment at Fee Plazas

Amendment to the National Highways Fee Rules, 2008 enabling UPI-based payment at fee plazas, with a 1.25-times user fee for eligible vehicles without a valid FASTag.

About Dataset

This notification, issued as the National Highways Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) (Third Amendment) Rules, 2026, further amends the National Highways Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules, 2008. The amendment substitutes Rule 6(3A) to provide that when a vehicle enters a fee plaza without a FASTag or with an invalid/non-functional FASTag and the user chooses to pay the applicable fee through the Unified Payment Interface (UPI), the user shall pay 1.25 times the applicable user fee for that vehicle category. If the owner or driver does not opt for payment through the specified method, the vehicle is to be dealt with in accordance with Rule 14. The amendment was issued under Section 9 of the National Highways Act, 1956 and comes into force from 10 April 2026. The notification is identified as G.S.R. 251(E), dated 2 April 2026, and includes an illustration showing that a ₹100 applicable user fee becomes ₹125 when the specified UPI payment option is selected.

Purpose of Dataset

To Enable A Cashless Payment Option Through Upi At National Highway Fee Plazas And Prescribe The Applicable User Fee For Vehicles Entering Without A Fastag Or With An Invalid/non-functional Fastag.
