A district-level Maharashtra dataset integrating demographic vulnerability, health outcomes, and healthcare infrastructure to study public service gaps across the state.
The Maharashtra District Public Service Gap Dataset integrates official Government of India data from Census 2011, NFHS-5 (2019–2021), and Rural Health Statistics to provide a district-level view of demographic vulnerability, health outcomes, and healthcare infrastructure across Maharashtra's 36 current districts. The dataset includes cleaned source indicators, derived variables, domain-level gap indices, and three overall public service gap measures: equal-weight, PCA-based, and domain-weighted. Geographic name reconciliation, missing-data handling, data-quality checks, variable-selection decisions, provenance, and sensitivity analysis are documented to support reproducible research. The dataset is intended for exploratory analysis, comparative research, public-policy studies, health analytics, and machine-learning applications. It should not be interpreted as a definitive ranking of districts or as evidence of causal relationships.
The dataset is designed to support district-level analysis of public-service disparities in Maharashtra. It can be used for exploratory data analysis, district comparison, health and social-development analytics, vulnerability assessment, clustering, anomaly detection, visualization, and machine-learning research. The integrated indicators and gap indices can help researchers investigate relationships between demographic vulnerability, health outcomes, and healthcare infrastructure and identify districts or patterns requiring further investigation. The dataset is intended to support evidence-based research and policy discussion rather than definitive district rankings or causal conclusions.
