JJM-Brochure-Year-2024

A concise brochure highlighting the objectives, key components, achievements, progress and technology-enabled initiatives of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) for providing safe, adequate and regular tap water supply to rural households.

About Dataset

The Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) Brochure – 2024 presents an overview of India’s flagship programme, “Har Ghar Jal,” launched on 15 August 2019 to provide Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) to rural households. The brochure highlights the Mission’s objective of ensuring adequate quantity of water (55 litres per capita per day) and prescribed quality standards on a regular and long-term basis. It explains the major components of JJM, including tap water supply, source sustainability, water quality, greywater management, community participation, women’s empowerment, skill development and employment generation, along with provision of tap water to schools, tribal hostels and anganwadi centres. The brochure also presents the Mission’s progress up to 3 January 2024, showing an increase in rural households with FHTCs from 3.23 crore to 13.98 crore, representing 10.74 crore new connections. It highlights benefits to schools, anganwadi centres and public institutions, community engagement through Village Water and Sanitation Committees and Village Action Plans, and expansion of water-quality testing facilities and women’s participation. The final page highlights technology-driven transparency and accountability, including the JJM Dashboard, Water Quality Management Information System, geo-tagging of infrastructure, transparent accounting, periodic functionality assessment and sensor-based IoT monitoring.

Purpose of Dataset
