About Dataset

Jal Jeevan Samvad – November 2020 presents the progress and major developments under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and its Har Ghar Jal programme. The publication explains the Mission's vision of providing Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) to every rural household, with assured potable water supply in adequate quantity and prescribed quality on a regular and long-term basis. The publication covers the progress of household tap water connections, including the achievement of Goa becoming the first State to provide 100% FHTCs in rural areas, along with rural drinking water projects in the Vindhyachal region. It also highlights the 100-day campaign for piped water supply in schools, anganwadi centres and ashramshalas, with emphasis on safe drinking water, hygiene, sanitation, grey-water management and rainwater harvesting. It further discusses functionality assessment of household tap connections across 7,000 villages, community participation through Gram Panchayats and Village Water & Sanitation Committees, water-quality initiatives, and partnerships with NGOs, voluntary organizations and other sector partners. A significant part of the publication is devoted to technology and innovation in rural water supply, including sensor-based IoT monitoring, digitization of water-supply infrastructure, Big Data Analytics, AI/ML and cloud technologies for near-real-time monitoring of water quantity, quality and service delivery. The publication also reports on the Conference of Ministers of States/UTs on Jal Jeevan Mission, the National Water Quality Sub-Mission, and the ICT Grand Challenge for developing a smart water supply measurement and monitoring system.
