Jal Jeevan Samvad – March 2024 is the 42nd edition of the National Jal Jeevan Mission’s monthly publication, featuring progress under Jal Jeevan Mission with a special focus on Operation and Maintenance (O&M), community participation, women’s empowerment, water conservation, capacity building and sustainable rural drinking-water services.

About Dataset

Jal Jeevan Samvad – March 2024 presents the latest developments, achievements and field experiences under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM). The 42nd edition places Operation and Maintenance (O&M) at the centre of its special feature, highlighting community-led management of piped water supply schemes, financial sustainability through user fees, infrastructure maintenance, grievance redressal, water quality testing, source sustainability and wastewater management. The issue also covers the progress of Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) and the status of rural tap-water supply as of 31 March 2024. It features Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain 2024, with its theme “Nari Shakti se Jal Shakti”, along with articles on women’s empowerment, reduction of water-collection drudgery and livelihood promotion. The publication further documents water-training initiatives, community participation, Panchayati Raj Institutions, water tariff management, local skill development, app-based solutions, source sustainability and state-level experiences from across India. It also includes visits, meetings, webinars, Jal Jeevan Survekshan and National WASH Experts’ visits.

Purpose of Dataset

The Publication Aims To Disseminate Jal Jeevan Mission Progress, Field Experiences And Best Practices, With Particular Emphasis On Sustainable Operation And Maintenance Of Rural Water-supply Systems. It Promotes Community Ownership, Women’s Participation, Capacity Building, Water Quality, Financial Sustainability, Source Conservation And Effective Service Delivery While Sharing Practical Approaches For Achieving Reliable Drinking-water Services Across Rural India.
