About Dataset

Jal Jeevan Samvad – December 2020 (Year 2020, Issue 3) is a monthly publication of the National Jal Jeevan Mission covering the progress, initiatives and experiences related to implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and its vision of Har Ghar Jal. The issue presents the Mission's integrated approach to providing functional household tap connections, ensuring adequate quantity and prescribed quality of drinking water on a regular and long-term basis, and improving the living standards of rural communities. The issue documents the progress of rural tap-water connections and highlights initiatives such as the 100-Day Campaign for providing piped water supply to Anganwadi Centres, Ashramshalas and Schools, along with WASH awareness, hygiene and safe-water practices. It also features field experiences on decentralised water-supply service delivery in Jammu & Kashmir, community ownership in Odisha, community-led drinking-water management in Punjab, water-quality surveillance through Field Testing Kits (FTKs), smart metering, village-level operation and maintenance, and capacity building of local communities. The publication further covers innovation in drinking-water quality testing, including the development of portable water-testing devices, skill development of rural human resources, and the strengthening of Gram Panchayats/Village Water & Sanitation Committees as institutions responsible for managing rural water-supply systems.

The Purpose Of The Publication Is To Communicate And Document The Progress, Experiences, Good Practices, Innovations And Stakeholder Initiatives Under Jal Jeevan Mission, While Facilitating Knowledge Sharing Across Different Levels Of The Rural Water-supply Sector.
