Jal Jeevan Samvad – April 2024 is the 43rd edition of the National Jal Jeevan Mission’s monthly publication, featuring the special theme “Data and Digital Governance” and highlighting the use of technology, IoT, digital platforms, data systems and innovation for efficient, transparent and sustainable rural drinking-water management.

About Dataset

Jal Jeevan Samvad – April 2024 presents the progress, initiatives, innovations and experiences of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in advancing safe, adequate and sustainable drinking-water supply to rural households. The 43rd edition focuses particularly on Data and Digital Governance, demonstrating how data, digital technologies and technology-enabled systems are being integrated into water-sector planning, monitoring and service delivery. The publication covers the progress of Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) and the comparative status of States and Union Territories as of 30 April 2024. It reports national rural household tap-water coverage and the progress towards Har Ghar Jal. A major section of the issue explores IoT and digital portable water-testing kits, including real-time monitoring of water quality, quantity, distribution, leakage and infrastructure performance. The issue explains how sensor-based technologies and digital testing devices can support data-driven decision-making, early detection of water-quality problems, efficient resource management and improved operation and maintenance of rural water-supply systems. Other articles cover algorithm governance, citizen engagement, JJM BRAIN, e-Governance, Digital Public Infrastructure, smart water metering, geospatial technologies, digital O&M, AI-based surveillance, real-time monitoring and sustainable water management. The contents also document capacity building, water-quality management and technology-enabled initiatives across different States.

The Publication Aims To Showcase How Data, Digital Technologies And Innovative Solutions Are Transforming Rural Drinking-water Governance Under Jal Jeevan Mission. It Disseminates Progress, Technological Practices And Field Experiences Relating To Monitoring, Water Quality, Service Delivery, Transparency, Accountability, Infrastructure Management And Sustainability, Supporting Informed Decisions And Improved Water Services Across Rural India.
