Jal Mahotsav 2026 – Campaign Report presents the activities and outcomes of the nationwide campaign organised from 8 to 22 March 2026 under the Jal Jeevan Mission. The campaign was conceived as a community-centric, whole-of-government initiative to strengthen drinking-water service delivery by linking water with local traditions, livelihoods, community governance and sustainable resource management. The report explains that Jal Mahotsav seeks to institutionalise local Jal Utsavs and strengthen convergence among sectors including water, sanitation, health, livelihoods, education, skills, energy and environment. The campaign placed particular emphasis on Jan Bhagidari, community ownership, water conservation, source sustainability, water quality assurance and operation and maintenance (O&M). Activities included Jal Arpan ceremonies, transect walks and Jal Yatras, Field Testing Kit (FTK)-based water quality testing, cleaning of water assets and overhead tanks, sanitary inspections, orientation of Village Water and Sanitation Committees (VWSCs), awareness programmes, Lok Jal Utsav calendars and recognition of grassroots functionaries. The report records 10,76,208 total participants and 6,09,508 people involved in awareness generation, along with extensive water-quality testing at households, Anganwadi centres and schools. It also documents participation from multiple Ministries, departments and institutions, demonstrating the campaign's whole-of-government and cross-sectoral approach.
