The October 2025 edition of Jal Jeevan Samvad is a special issue centred on “Peyjal Samvad: A Cross-Learning & District Dialogues Series.” It captures the transition of the Jal Jeevan Mission from expanding infrastructure and household tap connections towards ensuring sustained, reliable and accountable rural water services. The edition documents the first and second District Collectors’ Peyjal Samvad, bringing together district leadership to strengthen governance, institutional accountability, innovation and community participation. A major focus is the digital transformation of rural water governance, particularly the upgraded Rural Piped Water Supply Scheme (RPWSS) ID Module, which provides a unique digital identity to rural water supply schemes and enables geo-tagging, real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance and data-backed decision-making. The issue also explores source sustainability and scientific water-resource planning through the Decision Support System (DSS), including groundwater vulnerability assessment, recharge-zone identification and District Source Sustainability Action Plans. Through district case studies from Ganjam, Charaideo, Ratnagiri, North Tripura, Dhamtari, Hamirpur, Baramulla, Dang, Bokaro and Gadchiroli, the publication showcases local innovations, women’s participation, water-quality monitoring, sustainable O&M, technology-enabled governance and community ownership. The edition also highlights India’s progress, with 15.72 crore rural households having tap-water connections, representing 81.22% coverage as of 31 October 2025.
