Jal Jeevan Samvad – May 2026 is the 68th edition of the National Jal Jeevan Mission’s publication, highlighting the transition under Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0 from infrastructure creation to sustainable, reliable and community-owned rural drinking-water services. It features FHTC progress, reform-linked MoUs, community-led governance, digital reforms and district-level water-management experiences.

About Dataset

Jal Jeevan Samvad – May 2026 is the 68th edition of the publication of the National Jal Jeevan Mission, Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti. The edition focuses on the evolving implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0, with emphasis shifting from creation of drinking-water infrastructure to reliable, sustainable, accountable and community-owned service delivery. The issue presents the progressive coverage of Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) and comparative coverage across States and Union Territories as of 31 May 2026. A major feature is the signing of reform-linked MoUs with four States and one Union Territory, aimed at strengthening governance, community participation, Gram Panchayat institutions and sustainable rural water services. The 7th Sujal Gram Samvad highlights community-led water governance and the participation of Gram Panchayats, VWSCs, Jal Sahiyas, Jal Bahinis, Jal Sakhis and other local stakeholders. The issue also covers the 8th District Collectors’ Peyjal Samvad, digital governance and the Comprehensive Implementation and Reform Plan (CIRP). District experiences from Nagpur, Koraput, Pali, Dhanbad, Muzaffarnagar and Kollam demonstrate locally adapted approaches to water security, source sustainability, water quality, community participation, digital monitoring and O&M.
