Jal Jeevan Samvad – March 2026 is the 66th edition of the National Jal Jeevan Mission’s publication, covering the transition to JJM 2.0, sustainable and citizen-centric rural drinking-water services, Jal Mahotsav 2026, community participation, digital governance, water quality, source sustainability and reform-oriented service delivery.

About Dataset

Jal Jeevan Samvad – March 2026 is the 66th edition of the publication of the National Jal Jeevan Mission, Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti. The issue captures a significant phase in the evolution of the Jal Jeevan Mission, marked by a transition from rapid expansion of Functional Household Tap Connections to a stronger focus on service delivery, sustainability, accountability and systemic reforms. The Union Cabinet’s approval of JJM 2.0 and its enhanced financial outlay provide the framework for strengthening safe, adequate and sustainable drinking-water services in rural India. A major focus of the edition is Jal Mahotsav 2026, the first 15-day nationwide campaign conducted from 8 March to 22 March, promoting citizen participation, water conservation, community ownership and maintenance of rural piped-water infrastructure. The issue highlights the launch of Sujal Gaon ID, JJM 2.0 Operational Guidelines, reform-linked MoUs with States, and the fifth edition of Sujal Gram Samvad, conducted in local languages to strengthen participatory water governance. The publication also covers source sustainability, water quality, sustainable Operation & Maintenance (O&M), water budgeting, skilled communities, digital monitoring and service-driven rural water management. It reports FHTC coverage of 81.81% as on 31 March 2026, based on JJM-IMIS data.

It Shares Policy Developments, Programme Achievements, Field Experiences And Innovative Approaches For Long-term Water Security.
