About Dataset

Jal Jeevan Samvad – March 2025 presents the latest progress, initiatives and field-level experiences under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and related water, sanitation and hygiene programmes. The edition records the achievement of more than 15.5 crore rural households with tap-water connections and emphasizes that JJM is contributing not only to improved water access but also to health, dignity, equity, resilience and socio-economic opportunities. A major theme of the March edition is women's leadership and empowerment in water management. It highlights women-led Mahila Pani Samitis, Water Champions and Women Water Warriors who are contributing to water governance, community mobilisation and sustainable management of local water resources. The edition particularly connects women's access to household tap water with greater opportunities for education, skills development, livelihoods and economic empowerment. The publication also covers the Post-Budget Webinar 2025 and its special session on Jan Bhagidari in Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission-Grameen, highlighting community participation, local governance, behavioural change and technology-driven solutions for sustainable WASH services. The campaign focuses on water conservation, rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge, water security and intensified community participation, with special emphasis on 148 focus districts. The edition further documents the India-Nepal MoU on cooperation in the WASH sector, covering capacity building, technology and knowledge transfer, groundwater management, rainwater harvesting and sustainable water-resource management. The issue also features the “Ripples of Change: Gender-transformative Rural WASH Programmes in India” publication jointly documented by DDWS and UNICEF, along with field visits, community stories, water champions, JJM progress, and initiatives aimed at strengthening sustainable and citizen-centric water services.
