Jal Jeevan Samvad – January 2026 is the 64th edition of the publication of the National Jal Jeevan Mission, Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti. The issue presents key developments, policy discussions, field experiences and community-led initiatives under the Jal Jeevan Mission, with a central focus on ensuring sustainable and reliable rural drinking-water services. A major feature of the edition is the Minister-level Policy Dialogue on Sustainable Operation & Maintenance (O&M) of Rural Drinking Water Services, which emphasises the transition from infrastructure creation to citizen-centric service delivery. The dialogue highlights the role of Gram Panchayats, Village Water & Sanitation Committees, predictable financing, institutional accountability, source sustainability, technology and community ownership in ensuring long-term functionality of rural water-supply systems. The publication also covers the 5th District Collectors’ Peyjal Samvad, the 3rd Sujal Gram Samvad, and Jal Seva Aankalan, highlighting district-level planning, community participation, multilingual village-level dialogue and Panchayat-led assessment of water services. The issue further documents the participation of 58 WaSH Warriors from Swachh Sujal Gaon villages as special guests at the 77th Republic Day celebrations, showcasing grassroots leadership in water, sanitation and hygiene.
