Jal Jeevan Samvad – February 2026 is the 65th edition of the publication of the National Jal Jeevan Mission, Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti. The issue documents the evolving phase of the Jal Jeevan Mission, where the emphasis is shifting from creating rural water infrastructure to ensuring sustainability, reliable service delivery, accountability and community ownership. The Foreword particularly highlights strengthening institutions, empowering communities and ensuring that drinking-water systems function reliably over time. The edition presents progress on Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) and the status of rural tap-water supply. It features the Fourth Sujal Gram Samvad, showcasing community dialogue in local languages and experiences from Gram Panchayats across States and Union Territories. The issue also covers the National-level Training of Master Trainers on Sujalam Bharat and District Technical Units, focusing on digital systems, technical support, geo-tagging and data-driven governance. A major section covers the Sixth District Collectors’ Peyjal Samvad, highlighting district leadership, decentralised accountability, community-owned water services and local innovations. The edition also presents Jal Mahotsav 2026, envisaged as a people's movement promoting Jan Bhagidari, water conservation and responsible water management.
