About Dataset
This dataset provides state and district-wise data on the number of dry latrines recorded during Census 2011, compiled by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. Dry latrine data is a direct indicator of the prevalence of manual scavenging. It supports analysis of sanitation infrastructure gaps, state-level distribution of dry latrines, and progress monitoring under the elimination of manual scavenging programmes including NAMASTE and MS Act 2013 implementation.
