Bhili is an indigenous Indo-Aryan language spoken by over 10 million members of the Bhil tribal community across western and central India. Through Project Astitva, Karya collaborated with 400+ native Bhili speakers in partnership with the district administration of Nandurbar, Maharashtra, to create high-quality digital language resources for Dehwali Bhili. These efforts enabled the development of India’s first tribal language model in Bhili, which has subsequently been integrated into MahaVISTAAR AI with support from the Maharashtra state government and Bhashini. This dataset is a part of a larger conversational dataset in Dehwali Bhili language, collected to analyze and understand the nuances of this language. The dataset contains unique audio files and corresponding json, each of which represents a conversation, along with speaker information, start and end timestamps, and the corresponding transcriptions of the segments of that conversation. The data is primarily useful for researchers, linguists, and AI/ML developers working on language processing and understanding. The data can be used to develop language models, improve speech recognition systems, and create language learning resources. Additionally, this dataset can be used in academic research on language and linguistics, such as analyzing language patterns, dialects, and speech characteristics. The data has the potential to be used in various applications, such as language modeling, sentiment analysis, and machine translation. The data can also be used to study the cultural and social aspects of the Dehwali Bhili community.
