About Dataset

Bhili is an indigenous Indo-Aryan language spoken by over 10 million members of the Bhil tribal community across western and central India. Through Project Astitva, Karya collaborated with 400+ native Bhili speakers in partnership with the district administration of Nandurbar, Maharashtra, to create high-quality digital language resources for Dehwali Bhili. These efforts enabled the development of India's first tribal language model in Bhili, which has subsequently been integrated into MahaVISTAAR AI with support from the Maharashtra state government and Bhashini. This dataset comprises 10,000 pairs of Marathi sentences and their validated translations in Dehwali Bhili language. The data is derived from a pipeline that aims to provide accurate and helpful responses to farmers' queries and facilitate language translation and processing tasks. The dataset can be utilized by policymakers, researchers, and agricultural experts to better understand the needs and concerns of farmers, ultimately informing evidence-based decisions. By analyzing this dataset, one can identify trends, patterns, and areas of improvement in agricultural practices, leading to more efficient and sustainable farming methods. This dataset has the potential to contribute to the development of targeted interventions, improved agricultural extension services, and enhanced farmer livelihoods. The dataset can also be leveraged to develop AI/ML models that provide personalized advice to farmers, enhancing their decision-making capabilities.
