A parametric sensitivity-analysis dataset of a coupled alkaline water electrolyzer (AWE) and multi-effect distillation (MED) system that jointly produces hydrogen and freshwater, benchmarked against reverse osmosis (RO) desalination.
This dataset contains 220 simulation records (15 columns) produced by running a coupled electrochemical–thermodynamic–heat-transfer–economic model of an integrated AWE (hydrogen electrolyzer) + MED (multi-effect distillation) system across 10 input parameters, one at a time. The parameters fall into three categories — economic (electricity price, electrolyzer capital cost, interest rate, plant lifetime, operating rate/capacity factor), electrolyzer (Faradaic efficiency, current density, operating temperature), and MED thermal (heat-exchanger thermal resistance, Gain Output Ratio) — and each is swept across a defined range while the outputs (cell voltage, specific DC energy consumption, electrolyzer efficiency, hydrogen production rate, installed capacity, heat output, freshwater production, water production cost, water consumption, and levelized cost of hydrogen for MED vs. RO configurations) are recomputed. The underlying parameter ranges and the modeling approach originate from a Zenodo research dataset ("Thermo-Economic Assessment of an Integrated Multi-Effect Distillation System," Li, Yuqing, Sichuan University); this upload is a cleaned/restructured, single-table consolidation of that source's ten separate raw parameter files into one final sensitivity-analysis table, with a metadata registry documenting each parameter's source file, unit, and range.
Intended to support techno-economic research on green-hydrogen-and-freshwater co-production systems, comparative cost analysis of MED vs. RO desalination coupled to electrolysis, and reproducible sensitivity/what-if analysis of how economic and technical assumptions affect the levelized cost of hydrogen and water.
