Information collected in All India Survey on Higher Education(AISHE) primarily used for calculating the Gross Enrolment Ratio, Gender Parity Index, Pupil Teacher Ratio etc. at National and State levels.
he All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) collects comprehensive data on higher education institutions, student enrolment, teacher details, infrastructure, and course offerings across India. It covers universities, colleges, and standalone institutions, both public and private. The survey provides key indicators such as Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER), Gender Parity Index (GPI), Pupil Teacher Ratio (PTR), and student distribution by discipline, social category, and state. AISHE serves as the primary data source for understanding access, equity, and quality in the country’s higher education system.
Aishe Data Can Be Used To Analyse Enrolment Trends, Disparities In Access By Gender, Region, Or Social Group (E.g., Sc/st/obc), The Efficiency Of Teacher Allocation, The Growth Of Private Versus Public Institutions, And The Impact Of Policies Like Rte Or Fee Waivers On Higher Education Participation. It Also Supports Studies On Regional Imbalances In Educational Infrastructure, Faculty Shortages, And The Relationship Between Enrolment Patterns And Labour Market Outcomes.
