
The Tawng Mizo Speech Dataset with Transcripts is a speech corpus containing Mizo audio recordings from publicly available sources paired with accurate text transcripts. Designed for Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), Text-to-Speech (TTS), and speech AI research, the dataset supports the development, training, and evaluation of Mizo language technologies while promoting language preservation and digital inclusion.
Developed by Mizomade Private Limited, this dataset represents a significant effort toward advancing digital speech resources for the Mizo language. We have taken the utmost care in collecting, recording, cleaning, validating, and organizing the audio and corresponding text to ensure high quality, accuracy, and consistency. Multiple rounds of review and quality assurance have been performed to minimize errors and improve reliability for research and production use. While every effort has been made to maintain high standards, speech data is inherently diverse and context-dependent, with variations in pronunciation, accent, speaking style, and recording conditions. Users are encouraged to perform task-specific evaluation and validation when deploying models trained on this dataset in real-world applications. Our goal is to contribute to the growth of Mizo language technology and promote greater accessibility, inclusion, and innovation in the AI ecosystem.
The Mizo Speech Dataset Was Created To Support Research And Development In Automatic Speech Recognition (Asr), Text-to-speech (Tts), Speech Processing, Multilingual Artificial Intelligence, And Language Technology For The Mizo Language. The Dataset Provides High-quality Mizo Speech Recordings Paired With Accurately Transcribed Text, Making It Suitable For Training, Evaluation, And Benchmarking Of Asr And Tts Models, As Well As Other Speech And Language Ai Systems. It Aims To Promote Digital Inclusion, Language Preservation, And The Development Of Ai Tools That Better Serve Mizo-speaking Communities. The Dataset Has Been Carefully Collected, Recorded, Curated, Cleaned, And Validated To Ensure Accuracy, Consistency, And Usability For Academic, Research, And Industrial Applications. This Dataset Is Also Part Of The Bhashini Mizo Ai Hackathon.
